Devil from my Past

Yesterday the devil visited me at midnight
You’d expect darkness, but it was very bright.
Because he showed me scenes from my past
My colourful yet reckless past which did not last.

He showed me, not only the things that happened
But also the things that could’ve happened.
Had I have made the correct choices
Amidst all the confusing noises.

He teased me, by showing you to me
Just when I tried to touch you, he’d slap me.
You looked so wonderful and I was overwhelmed
I tried many times, but each time, declined.

When he left, I found myself weeping on the floor
Because I knew he will be back tonight with more.
There is no point asking him for mercy either
I guess passing a message the hard way is his nature.
